It’s been four years since Lenny Kravitz put out an album and three years since he wrapped his last world tour. In the time since, he’s appeared on film and TV and launched his own furniture line with CB2. Now, he’s feeling inspired and ready to return to music with his 11th studio album, Raise Vibration, set for release in September and a European tour starting at the end of May.
While in New York City, in between his Mexico and Europe tour dates, he sat down with Trunk Nation’s Eddie Trunk on VOLUME (Ch. 106) to talk about his new music and take a look back on his career and past collaborations.
When asked about his collaborations with Prince, Kravitz revealed that some them exist in the Paisley Park vaults. One song, in particular, he would like to dig up and complete.
Elsewhere, he discussed how American Woman, his 1999 cover of The Guess Who’s 1969 original, came to be.
He also talked about what he considers his greatest hits, noting that Are You Going To Go My Way, which he recorded in five minutes, was a total surprise success.
Returning the conversation back to his upcoming record, Trunk asked him why he plays all of the instruments on many of his tracks and how the process works.
