While you were sleeping: Steph Curry explodes for 51, Kevin Durant’s cold-blooded buzzer-beater

Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching Madoff on ABC.

Curry makes it rain

At this point, Stephen Curry is just unfair. The reigning NBA MVP exploded for 51 points in Golden State’s 134-121 win over Washington on Wednesday, his second 50-point performance of the season. And he made it look easy. Curry nonchalantly poured in 36 points in the first half, made 11 three-pointers and shot 19-for-28 overall in what looked like an effortless performance. Draymond Green recorded his league-leading 10th triple-double of the year with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

It was the Warriors’ eighth straight win, and their 45-4 record matches the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers for the best 49-game star in NBA history. Curry was engaged in a highly-entertaining duel with Wizards point guard John Wall, who had 41 points and 10 assists in the loss. Take a look at the highlights:

Dunk Contest field revealed

The NBA announced the participants for the 2016 Slam Dunk Contest. Zach LaVine will be defending his crown against Andre Drummond, Aaron Gordon and Will Barton. For those who may have forgotten, here’s LaVine’s performance from last year that pretty much singlehandedly resurrected the slowly-dying dunk contest. Enjoy:

Durant’s cold-blooded game-winner

Our must-see moment comes from Oklahoma City’s 117-114 win over Orlando. Kevin Durant, who dropped 37 points, had ice in his veins for this game-winning three-pointer to beat the buzzer.

As a bonus, check these highlights from Russell Westbrook’s monster triple-double performance, as he finished with 24 points, 19 rebounds and 14 assists.
