What do Rock Hall of Fame inductee John Oates and Taylor Swift have in common? (Hint: It’s not long legs.)

The 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony goes down this week at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and leading up to the occasion, legendary singer and songwriter John Oates (of Hall & Oates — maybe you’ve heard of them?) will be one of the many inductees, as well as KISS, Nirvana, and the E Street Band.

Prior to his Rock Hall induction, Oates stopped by OutQ to discuss his recently released solo project, Good Road to Follow, and working with producer Nathan Paul Chapman, who’s also worked on a whopping FOUR records by country darling Taylor Swift. No big deal.

So, how did Oates ask the Grammy-winning superproducer to produce GRTF?

“Will you work with anyone who doesn’t have really long legs?” Oates joked. “I went over to his home studio where he actually cut a lot the Taylor Swift stuff…It got a little silly because when it came time for the vocal, I said, ‘Hey, what mic am I using?’ He said, ‘Well, that’s the one that Taylor sang on.’ I said, ‘Well, okay, I’ll sing on that one.'”
