Selena Gomez has come a long way since her days on Wizards of Waverly Place. But the former Disney star said she wouldn’t have been able to make her new album, Stars Dance, without first stepping out of her comfort zone in Spring Breakers.

“Taking that opportunity in my career really opened my eyes as an artist, and also, it kind of allowed other producers who probably didn’t really want to work with me before to want to work with me,” Gomez said. “I wanted to do something that would kind of throw people off, and Spring Breakers definitely threw people off when I did it.”

Gomez sat down with Mike Pifferer from SiriusXM Hits 1 to talk about her new album. Check out the video to hear about all the shenanigans she got up to while finding inspiration for her new electronic pop album.
