Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine called on Donald Trump to immediately release information about his business dealings with international governments during an interview with Ari Rabin-Havt on Wednesday.
Kaine even went a step further, saying the Republican presidential candidate would need to shut down his organization if he were elected.
“Trump’s entanglements overseas would pose really unprecedented national security conflicts of interest and potentially even threaten us,” Kaine said. “American policy could be literally for sale.”
Kaine’s reaction is tied to a recent Newsweek feature that claims “Trump’s global deals would make it impossible for him to conduct foreign policy in many countries without padding or depleting his wallet.”
“Trump’s extensive ties to Russia, to Vladimir Putin and to other Russian business interests that make it no surprise why Trump is so complimentary of Putin,” Kaine continued.
“These guys have such a financial say over Trump’s well being and the well being of his family. All it would take is dangling some money in front of him to potentially jeopardize whether our foreign policy is going to be in America’s interest or is going to be toward Russia.”
