Stephen King and John Mellencamp Talk “Ghost Brothers” Collaboration

Imagine “Tennessee Williams on mushrooms.” That’s how “Loon in the Afternoon’s” Mojo Nixon describes “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” — a new musical written by Stephen King with songs by John Mellencamp. The gory, supernatural show is inspired by Mellencamp’s Indiana cabin, which is allegedly haunted by the ghosts of two brothers and one girl who died there in the 1930s — two by drowning and one after being mauled by a wild animal. While King and Mellencamp may seem like an odd pair, “Once you hear it, you’ll know why he thought of me,” King says.
