Mixologist April Wachtel joined Wake Up! with Taylor on SiriusXM Stars to talk about all things cocktails to ring in the summer solstice. Wachtel introduced the new spirit, Solbeso, which literally means, “Kiss of the Sun.”

“[Solbeso is] the world’s first cacao spirit. It’s 80-proof. It’s distilled from the fresh cacao fruit and actually, when people think it’s chocolate, it’s not. It’s actually citrusy, has this really lovely sort of floral honeysuckle nose and palette as well. Dry spirit, very delicious.”

Strawberry Sipper 

1 1/2 part Solbeso
1 part fresh lemon juice
3/4 part Crown Maple
3 strawberries, sliced
Champagne splash

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a flute; top with champagne and garnish with strawberries

Beso Picante No. 2

2 parts Solbeso
1 part fresh lemon juice
3/4 part simple syrup
2 Jalapeño slices

Muddle Jalapeño in a mixing tin or glass. Add all other ingredients, shake, and strain into a double rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a Jalapeño slice.

Solbeso & Iced Tea 

1.5 parts Solbeso
4 parts Sweetened Iced Tea
Lemon Wheel or Wedge

Build in a glass over ice, stir and garnish with a lemon wheel or wedge.
