Straight Outta Compton Special: Ed Lover talks to the film’s director, actors and N.W.A member Ice Cube

Straight Outta Compton — the biopic about Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella of the iconic West Coast rap group N.W.A. — is due out in theaters this Friday. Backspin‘s Ed Lover invited the film’s director F. Gary Gray, cast members Jason Mitchell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and N.W.A. member Ice Cube to his show to talk about how the movie came together, the challenges the actors faced in portraying the iconic members of the group, why they refused to “tone down” the movie to appeal to the masses, and more.

This two-hour exclusive airs Wednesday, August 12 at 6 pm ET and again on August 14 at 8 pm ET and August 15 at 3 pm ET on Backspin.
