Imagine having to review 15,000 resumes. Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz found out exactly what that’s like after the band launched an online search for a new lead singer.

“We went through them all and some were extremely talented, some were fantastic. Some were extremely horrible. Some were comical,” Kretz said during an interview with SiriusXM Octane host Grant Random at the Carolina Rebellion music festival in Charlotte, N.C.

The band announced Jeff Gutt as the new lead singer in November, and they are currently on the Revolution 3 tour with Bush and The Cult.

Watch as Gutt and Kretz recall the audition process during an interview with Octane’s Grant Random before the band’s performance at Carolina Rebellion:

Relive Gutt’s debut performance as the band’s new lead singer, from STP’s exclusive SiriusXM concert on Nov. 14 at Troubadour in Los Angeles.

You can hear the Stone Temple Pilots on ’90s on 9 (Ch.9), Pop Rocks (Ch. 17), The Spectrum (Ch. 28), and Lithium (Ch. 34)
