Stephen A. Smith got political on his show on Mad Dog Sports Radio when talking about Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s comments earlier this week about “Black Lives Matter.”

Sherman’s comments were made at a press conference in which he addressed a meme that spread online of the cornerback and Marshawn Lynch. The meme was accompanied by a caption that read, “When we gon Kill These KKKrakas Bro.” In his statements to reporters, Sherman spoke out against a war against police and the white race, and said that fingers could not be pointed at anybody as long as black-on-black crimes exist.

Smith explained why he agrees with Sherman’s views.

“Don’t think for one second that neither myself, nor Richard Sherman, or anyone from the black community with a shred of intellect and intelligence finds everything right about the movement,” Smith said. “There are some bad cops. There are bad things happening to black people. It does need to be addressed. There’s no doubt about that. But as Richard Sherman so eloquently stated, virtually echoing what I said verbatim, all lives do matter.”

Smith continued.

“We’re not concerned about black lives just when the police, or white folks, or somebody fatally harms us; we’re concerned about black lives when black lives are being harmed by other black lives too.”
