SiriusXM remembers legendary television personality Regis Philbin

SiriusXM is paying tribute to celebrated host Regis Philbin in light of his death on Friday, July 24 (as confirmed by his family). Honor Philbin’s life and 60-year career with a look back at a special moment with Betty White during a SiriusXM Town Hall and more.

Philbin started his television career in 1964 and gained particular notoriety upon joining Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee in 1985 (which went on to become Live! with Regis and, eventually, Live! with Regis and Kelly). Philbin’s success with Live! earned him a 2001 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host. The television personality’s enduring career also crossed over into the game show sphere, where Philbin notably served as the original host of the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Philbin’s work as a host, singer, author, and actor resulted in a Guinness World Record for “Most Hours on Camera,” Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host, countless celebrity guest appearances, three studio albums, two autobiographies, and a memoir. He is survived by his wife, Joy Philbin, and three daughters — Amy, Joanna, and J.J. (his son, Daniel, sadly died in 2014).
