The NASCAR Cup Series visited historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Sunday. Here’s a look at the Power Rankings after the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard:

1. Chase Elliott

His finishing position certainly doesn’t depict Elliott’s day in Indianapolis. But the Hendrick Motorsports driver was tangled up in the traffic jam of the late restarts and credited with a 16th-place Indianapolis finish.

Point Standings: 1st
Last Week: 1st

2. Ross Chastain

He took evasive action on the final restart racing off track down the access road exit and started a controversy about the interpretation of the rule. Although Chastain was definitely a contender to win the last lap penalty assessed by NASCAR dropped him to a 27th-place finish.

Point Standings: 3rd
Last Week: 2nd

3. Tyler Reddick

He’s now on the short list of the best road course drivers in NASCAR and rightfully so after Reddick scores his second career win of the season Sunday in Indianapolis. It was a follow-up performance to his first series victory that came in July in another road race at Road America.

Point Standings: 11th
Last Week: 8th

4. Kyle Busch

It was a relatively quiet afternoon for Busch who continues to be in the middle of discussion about his future at JGR at season’s end. On track Busch could do no better than finish 11th in Indianapolis.

Point Standings: 8th
Last Week: 4th

5. Christopher Bell

A pre-race favorite to be in the mix for the win based on Bell’s previous road course performances didn’t materialize for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver who like a lot of people in Indy had a challenging day ultimately posting a 12th-place finish.

Point Standings: 6th
Last Week: 5th

6. Denny Hamlin

The theme of the season was on display again in Indianapolis for Hamlin who has had success but can’t seem to string several good finishes together. His post Pocono disqualification effort added up to 14th in Indy.

Point Standings: 19th
Last Week: 3rd

7. Kyle Larson

The most violent hit of the year happened Sunday when Larson crashed hard into Ty Dillon. Thankfully neither driver was injured in the scary looking crash that saw Larson’s car get all four wheel of the ground before the accident finally came to an end.

Point Standings: 5th
Last Week: 6th

8. Daniel Suarez

Frustration is the word that more than describes the day Suarez had in Indianapolis. A 28th-place finish was what the Trackhouse Racing driver left the Brickyard with on Sunday.

Point Standings: 13th
Last Week: 7th

9. Joey Logano

The No. 22 Team Penske Ford group found some speed in qualifying and Logano started fifth in Indianapolis. He was able to avoid getting tangled up in the day’s many wrecks and was very aggressive on the day’s final restart to help him put a sixth-place Indy finish on the board.

Point Standings: 7th
Last Week: NR

10. Martin Truex Jr.

He was once considered one of the best road racers in NASCAR but it hasn’t been that was this year for Truex Jr. He did accumulate some stage points but overall a mediocre day for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver who finished 21st in Indianapolis.

Point Standings: 4th
Last Week: 9th

Dropped Out: William Byron
