The calendar is turning to 2022 and conference play is heating up. Unfortunately, teams are navigating their way through more Covid-19 challenges with cancellations still part of the landscape. Here’s how the SiriusXM Big Ten Radio team voted for this week’s edition of the Power Rankings:

1. PURDUE @BoilerBall

There’s been a little bit of inconsistency of late for the Boilermakers.

2. OHIO STATE @OhioStateHoops

Solid ball from the Buckeyes has Ohio State back in the national picture as well as within the conference.

3. MICHIGAN STATE @MSU_Basketball

Tom Izzo’s squad is in a much better place than when it struggled so much last season at this juncture.

4. ILLINOIS @IlliniMBB

Kofi Cockburn continues to play at an elite level to lead the Fighting Illini.

5. WISCONSIN @BadgerMBB

The Johnny Davis Show has been something to watch in Madison.

6. MINNESOTA @GopherMBB

The Golden Gophers are still playing very good basketball and becoming less of a surprise team.

7. IOWA @IowaHoops

It’s been an up and down campaign so far in Iowa City.

8. NORTHWESTERN @NUMensBBall

The Wildcats are solid but need to find ways to put opponents away when they have the lead.

9. INDIANA @IndianaMBB

Let’s see if the Hoosiers can put together a string of consecutive good outings in conference play.

10. MICHIGAN @umichbball

A lot of young players still trying to find their way and contribute regularly in Ann Arbor.

11. RUTGERS @RutgersMBB

The Scarlet Knights haven’t been able to maintain the momentum after their big buzzer-beater win over Purdue a few weeks ago.

12. MARYLAND @TerrapinHoops

Interim coach Danny Manning is trying to find the right combination and chemistry.

13. PENN STATE @PennStateMBB

The Nittany Lions are not an easy out by any means but Penn State is still looking to put more wins on the board.

14. NEBRASKA @HuskerHoops

The Huskers have some good players to be sure but continue to struggle overall.
