The calendar has reached the midway point of January and here is this week’s “Power Rankings:”

1. PURDUE @BoilerBall

The Boilermakers continue to cruise as Matt Painter’s team looks to continue one of the best starts in program history.

2. RUTGERS @RutgersMBB

A road win against a tough Northwestern team and then knocking off Ohio State at home capped a very good week for the Scarlet Knights.

3. IOWA @IowaHoops

That bad loss to Eastern Illinois continues to feel like an eternity ago with Iowa with wins last week over Michigan and Maryland.

4. MICHIGAN STATE @MSU_Basketball

A split week for the Spartans going to Wisconsin to beat the Badgers but then falling to Illinois in Champaign.

5. ILLINOIS @IlliniMBB

Definitely a turn of events for Illinois after some disarray with a 2-0 week and wins over Nebraska and Wisconsin.

6. NORTHWESTERN @NUMensBBall

A couple of tough losses for the Wildcats last week losing a thriller at home to Rutgers then dropping another game on the road at Michigan.

7. MICHIGAN @umichbball

The Wolverines fell apart in overtime to lose on the road against Iowa but were able to bounce back to topple Northwestern at home.

8. WISCONSIN @BadgerMBB

A week to forget for the Badgers after losing at home against Michigan State and then getting blown out on the road by Illinois.

9. PENN STATE @PennStateMBB

The Nittany Lions had one game last week and they were impressive with a double digit victory over Indiana.

10. INDIANA @IndianaMBB

Hard to figure these Hoosiers who got blown out by Penn State but then returned the favor later in the week with a win versus Wisconsin.

11. OHIO STATE @OhioStateHoops

Losing at home to Minnesota was a shock and then things didn’t get better for the Buckeyes going on the road to lose to Rutgers.

12. MARYLAND @TerrapinHoops

The Terrapins lost their third game in four outings after getting defeated by Iowa.

13. MINNESOTA @GopherMBB

All hail the Gophers pulling off their biggest win of the season on the road against Ohio State for the first Big Ten victory of the year.

14. NEBRASKA @HuskerHoops

Two losses by double digits against Illinois and Purdue summed up a bad week for the Huskers.
