Bush fire in Kimberley, Australia.

While bushfires ravage Australia, many people are seeking ways to help regardless of where they are on the globe. To support relief efforts, consider contributing to the below organizations working with those affected (both human and wildlife) and also tuning in to 1st Wave (Ch. 33) this weekend as the channel hosts two benefit hours.

World Wildlife Fund: WWF is working to take immediate action in fighting the fires, help restore native bushland, protect wildlife (particularly their koalas, which see the threat of extinction looming in the future), and drive future fire-proofing efforts.

Australian Red Cross: As more and more Australians are displaced by the devastation, the Australian Red Cross has been deploying nearly 2,000 staff members and volunteers, providing emergency grants, and registering those affected to help reunite families separated by displacement.

International Red Cross: The ICRC is a global network historically dedicated to coming together and providing aid to those facing disaster by way of creating sustainable living environments, locating people, and more.

Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services: As a not-for-profit organization, 100 percent of SMWS funding goes directly to helping sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife.

SiriusXM is also striving to make a difference — 1st Wave will feature two opportunities to support bushfire relief set to the tune of classic alternative hits from down under. During the Lust for Lists Australian Benefit starting at 9am ET on Saturday, January 11, Lori Majewski will be raising awareness and asking for donations during her weekly show where she’ll also spin songs from Australian artists like Men at Work andMen at Work. On Sunday, January 12 at 9pm ET, Richard Blade is highlighting music from Australian bands like INXS, Midnight Oil, and others to drive continued support to the region.

Unite with Australia this weekend by supporting both an important cause and some of the country’s most internationally beloved music.
