Dwight Howard spurning Los Angeles for Houston was bad news for the Lakers faithful, right?

Maybe not, suggested Mad Dog Radio’s Adam Schein.

On his daily program, Schein on Sports, Schein said that losing Howard to the Rockets was actually “a win for the L.A. Lakers.”

According to Schein, when you factor in the money that the Lakers saved for the summer of 2014 — when players including LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony hit the free agent market — Los Angeles is actually “closer to an NBA title than the Houston Rockets.”

Schein did add, though, that he thinks Houston will win 55-65 games this season and that he is a fan of their roster, namely James Harden and Chandler Parsons.

Listen to Schein’s full thoughts below, and hear him weekdays at 10 am ET on Mad Dog Radio, SiriusXM channel 86.
