Sammy Watkins knows he’s part of something special with the Los Angeles Rams.

For one thing, the wide receiver has helped assure the Rams, at 9-3 after Sunday’s 32-16 victory against the Arizona Cardinals, of their first winning season in 13 years.

‘For me, it’s just soaking everything in’

For another, Watkins, whom the Buffalo Bills traded to the Rams in August, finds himself being a part of a first winning season since the Bills made him the fourth overall pick of the 2014 draft.

“It’s been a blessing, just to be a part of this team, to be a part of a winning team,” Watkins told Zig Fracassi on NFL Rewind. “I haven’t had that since college (Clemson). So, for me, it’s just soak everything in, continue to try to play at my best and enjoy this whole process this year.

‘The run is in the winning and right now I can tell you I’ve been in a good place mentally’

“That’s the best part about any sport or anything: winning. And the fun is in the winning and right now I can tell you I’ve been in a good place mentally, physically. It’s been great, just winning games. In the NFL, that’s hard to come by.”

Watkins’ catch of an 11-yard touchdown throw from Jared Goff gave the Rams a 26-13 lead late in the third quarter effectively put the game out of reach.

‘It was one of my easiest touchdowns ever’

“That’s just a play that we’ve been harping on him on all week — that speed across the field, break quick — and (Goff) made a great read,” Watkins said. “I was wide open. It was one of my easiest touchdowns ever. Jared has just continued to do what he does every week. He’s a leader, he’s controlling this football team and he’s going to continue to do so.”
