Robyn Radio: Our favorite Swedish dance sensation takes over Utopia all weekend!

It’s no secret we’ve got a little crush on Robyn, so this weekend Utopia becomes Robyn Radio! The Swedish dance sensation is taking over the channel (Ch. 55), playing songs from her new mini-album Love Is Free, plus plenty of Robyn dance classics from the ’90s and 2000s. Listen to the best of Robyn starting Friday, August 14 at 5 pm ET through Sunday, August 16.

Love Is Free — a collaboration with the late Swedish producer Christian Falk and keyboard player Markus Jägerstedt, who along with Robyn form the group La Bagatelle Magique — is out now on Cherrytree Records. It follows up last year’s EP collaboration with Röyksopp, Do It Again.

To hold you over until this weekend, Utopia programmer Ben Harvey helps your reintroduce yourself to Robyn with the five essential tracks below!

5. Call Your Girlfriend

When it first came out, there were rumors of this song being about a closeted gay guy – “Call your girlfriend, it’s time you had the talk” – However, Robyn’s twirling around in a fur top through the whole video doesn’t give us any answers on that one.

4. Do It Again

This album was so underrated! The video should really be studied in film schools.

3. Show Me Love

Let’s rewind to 1997 before the days of HD music videos … this is the song that put Robyn on the map!

2. Dancing On My Own

A song many wallflowers can identify with from middle school dances, Dancing on My Own has an awesome video featuring Robyn’s best dance move, the sucker punch.

1. Hang with Me

Hang with Robyn on the beach, in a diner, on a roller coaster … and all weekend on Robyn Radio!
