It was 50 years ago today… well, this week, that The Beatles’ groundbreaking album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, hit record stores. Over the past half-decade, Peter Blake and Jann Haworth’s pop art album cover has become as well known as the album’s songs.
The colorful collage of faces — known and obscure historical figures, inanimate mannequins and The Beatles themselves — was created out of an ink drawing by Paul McCartney, who developed tje album’s concept. For nine more fab facts about the album cover, check out this post.
