Reba McEntire has worn many hats over the course of her long career, but under each one, her red hair and signature smile have stayed the same. The Oklahoma-born singer, songwriter, producer, clothing designer, actress, author and philanthropist has become one of the biggest country crossover stars of all time. She’s released at least one single each year since her debut in 1976 and has won at least one award each year since 1984. She’s dabbled in different genres, done duets with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Carole King, starred in her own sitcom and has even taken a turn on Broadway.
Sure, McEntire may have toned down her love for sequins, fringe and big shoulder pads in recent years, but she remains an icon and an inspiration for a new generation of country divas with classic chops and pop sensibilities. At age 62, Reba’s shown no signs of slowing down—she released a gospel album last year and is set to return to TV soon, playing a small-town sheriff in an upcoming series.
