The 1990s saw a continuation of teen and dance pop, which emerged in the ‘70s and ’80s. Hip-hop and contemporary R&B grew rampantly popular and began incorporating other genres like soul, funk, jazz and reggae together, resulting in fusion sub-genres. Rock continued in popularity with the emergence of grunge, Britpop, industrial rock, punk, ska punk, nu metal and other alternative rock music.
