Jets fans, it might be time to make a “Polian for Mayor” push.

Former NFL executive and current SiriusXM NFL Radio host Bill Polian said that he’s sick of seeing the Mark Sanchez “butt fumble” from last year’s New York Jets Thanksgiving Day loss to the New England Patriots, and that at this point, he has sympathy for the Jets’ quarterback and their coach.

“If I have to see the butt fumble one more time, I’m gonna scream,” Polian said. “And I’m gonna scream again out loud: It wasn’t his fault. It was the fault of the guard. And you Jets fans that are listening, please, put this away. It was the fault of the guard who got run over by the nose tackle, who blasted him into Sanchez. It wasn’t Sanchez’s fault. […] I would’ve cut the offensive lineman the next day.

“Sanchez, while not Andrew Luck or RG3, took them within one game of the Super Bowl [twice]. And you wanna treat this guy as though he has a communicable disease,” Polian added.

But what about this year, though? Will the Jets be closer to the first overall pick than the playoffs, as several NFL previews have suggested?

“The way to play winning football for the Jets is to limit turnovers, play good, solid, sound football, run the ball, don’t get your quarterback in 3rd-and-nine and 3rd-and-eight situations, and then let the defense go win the game for you,” Polian said. “It’s a tall order, but it can be done. The 49ers did it with Smith out there before they got Kaepernick into the lineup. So it can be done, but all of this sound and fury, I truly feel bad for Rex Ryan. I really do.”

One more time, for good measure?
