SiriusXM is sad to report that Nipsey Hussle has died at age 33. The rapper, born Ermias Davidson Ashedom, died after suffering multiple gun shots in front of his clothing store in Los Angeles.
Hussle’s career took off in 2005, after he released several mixtapes. His collaborations with Drake and Snoop Dogg catapulted his name and led to a label deal with Atlantic Records in 2017. In February 2018, Hussle released Victory Lap, his much-anticipated, major-label debut. The album was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
SiriusXM paid tribute to the West Coast MC and activist with a live call-in show on Hip-Hop Nation (Ch. 44) Sunday night. The channel will continue to pay tribute throughout Monday, playing songs from the artist every hour and rebroadcasting his 2018 interview, which originally aired on Shade 45 (Ch. 45), at 8 pm ET.
During that visit to the New York City studios, he discussed Victory Lap and other projects close to his heart.
