So far, Jamal Adams’ only interaction with Adam Gase has come in the form of a text the New York Jets’ standout safety received from his new head coach.

They will eventually have face-to-face conversations, and Adams will get a better handle on Gase’s coaching style when the Jets are finally on the field for offseason workouts.

‘I’m just excited to have (Gase) on board’

For now, though, Adams is in Orlando, Fla., at the Pro Bowl, putting the finishing touches on the 2018-19 NFL season with Sunday’s all-star game.

“It’s going to be different at the beginning, because (Todd Bowles is) the guy that drafted me.”

“I’m just excited to have him on board and I’m excited to get started,” Adams told Cole Wright and Kirk Morrison on Pro Bowl Live. Of course, Adams will always have a special place in his heart for the Jets’ previous coach, Todd Bowles. “It’s going to be different at the beginning because he’s the guy that drafted me,” the safety said. “Being with him for two years was definitely awesome and something I’ll never forget.”

‘(Gregg Williams) has everything you ask for in a defensive coordinator’

Nevertheless, Adams is thrilled with what’s ahead for him and the rest of the defense under the Jets’ new coordinator, Gregg Williams.

“Yeah, I definitely love it,” Adams said. “He has everything you ask for in a defensive coordinator. He’s an aggressive guy, he talks noise and he’s definitely going to hold everybody accountable. So we’re looking forward to it.”
