“You don’t draft a guy like him where they drafted him, and not play him.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expecting to get a little taste of Johnny Football on Sunday.

This week on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin explained to Rich Gannon and Bruce Murray why, despite the Cleveland Browns announcing Brian Hoyer as the team’s starter, Tomlin’s defense is preparing for rookie Johnny Manziel.

“Obviously, there’s reasons they’re starting Hoyer and they’re legitimate ones,” Tomlin said. “We know Brian. Brian was here with us. We know the things that make him special. Man, he’s a ridiculous professional and competitor and really smart.

“But Johnny Manziel has unique talents,” Tomlin continued, “and I imagine they’re going to continue to cultivate those talents and give him opportunities to improve and play, even as we get into the regular season. You know we don’t have any control over when they’re going to play him, or how they’re going to utilize him, but we expect them to, and we are prepared to see both guys.”

Tomlin also gave Gannon and Murray insight into what the Steelers expect out of the Browns’ defense in the season opener.
