Kenyan Drake could feel the vibe from the very first offseason meeting with players at the Miami Dolphins’ facility.

The running back saw that everyone was seated early as new coach Brian Flores entered the room to address the team.

‘It hasn’t been necessarily him saying much, because he didn’t necessarily say much’

Drake senses that a significant way Flores has been able to reach players is by conveying the clear feeling that they’re all in this together.

“Meetings start at eight o’clock every morning. Everybody’s already in their seats at 7:55, ready to go.”

“I feel like Flores is coming in with a mindset of complete transparency in terms of he’s going to give his all, he expects you to give your all,” Drake told Bruce Murray and Phil Savage on the SiriusXM Blitz. “And in terms of just the verbiage between player and coach, it’s just going to be complete honesty and direct … It’s interesting just to see how everybody’s already responded to it. It hasn’t been necessarily him saying much, because he didn’t necessarily say much. He just kind of has this air about him where people are already ready to run through a wall for him.

‘He’s very personable, but he’s a very serious guy about the game of football’

“So I’m excited to see kind of how it all progresses as OTAs come and then the rookies and everybody else comes and sees how he’s running the business. And then everybody just kind of follows suit then.”

What has impressed Drake as much as anything is the way Flores balances being approachable as well as a leader. “Brian Flores is definitely very impressive,” the running back said. “He’s very personable, but he’s a very serious guy about the game of football. One thing that I definitely noticed the first week being in the building is just the respect that he commands from the players, the staff, everybody around the building and the respect that he kind of gives at the same time. Meetings start at eight o’clock every morning. Everybody’s already in their seats at 7:55, ready to go.”
