Max Papis has some big shoes to fill. The Italian driver will be behind the wheel of the No. 14 Chevrolet Sunday, replacing the injured Tony Stewart. Papis spoke with Dave Moody and Angie Skinner on SiriusXM Speedway about what it means to him to be in the field at the Cheez-It 355.

“It’s just an honor for me,” Papis said. “What you guys need to understand, for someone like an Italian guy like me who didn’t have any NASCAR background, to be called and substitute for a NASCAR legend and champion like Tony Stewart, it is just an honor. It’s a great opportunity.”

Papis also said that he’s staying grounded, and isn’t looking ahead to a series championship just yet.

“I like it as something, not that it’s going to change my career, but it’s just gonna be a great experience,” Papis said. “I can tell my kids, ‘I drove Tony Stewart’s car.'”

Listen to Papis race Sunday at 1 pm ET on SiriusXM channel 90, and tune into SiriusXM Speedway weekdays at 3 pm ET on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
