Marvin LewisMarvin Lewis wants the entire matter to go away.

He fully plans to return as coach of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017. He has no intention of retiring or otherwise walking away from the job he has held since 2003.

‘Somebody had already gone out on the limb with a not very credible statement’

Lewis wishes he didn’t have to address it, but rumors surfaced that he might be hanging up his whistle. So he addressed it, to Alex Marvez and Ross Tucker on the Opening Drive.

“I’ll be back in 2017,” Lewis said. “Somebody had already gone out on the limb with, unfortunately, a not very credible statement, so I was trying not to give any credibility that way. I just don’t want to make a headline. I don’t need to make headlines. I don’t want to see my name in the headlines.

‘I wasn’t going to give any credibility to that’

“And someone had already, irresponsibly, made a headline and I wasn’t going to give any credibility to that.”
