Justin Simmons Comments on Sean Payton’s Coaching and Russell Wilson’s Expectations

Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons recently shared his insights during an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio‘s The SiriusXM Blitz with Bill Lekas & Kirk Morrison, shedding light on his experiences working with new head coach Sean Payton and discussing the potential of quarterback Russell Wilson in his second year.

Sean Payton

Simmons expressed enthusiasm about Payton, stating, “He kind of brings just new energy and just a new way of coaching.”

The safety also shared his own perspective on this change: “He obviously has done it for a long time and it’s been super successful. And I think for me, always seeing him on the outside looking in, and now being on the inside, it’s a unique position to be in and I’m going to take… full advantage of that,” Simmons expressed.

Russell Wilson

Moving to the QB position, Justin Simmons discussed the progress Russell Wilson made during the offseason as many anticipate his second year in the Mile High City after his first left many disappointed. Simmons spoke highly of Russell Wilson’s work ethic, locker room presence, and dedication to his craft. The safety expressed his belief that Wilson’s commitment to preparation will yield positive results on the field this season.

Simmons said, “I know he’s one of the hardest workers, if not the hardest worker I’ve ever been around and that I’ve seen, and his attention to detail and his preparation has already made me a better player, being his teammate.” He continued, “And so, I’m always going to put my full trust and confidence in him as my quarterback, and I can’t wait to see what that looks like heading into year two with us.”
