

SiriusXM is honoring Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, with exclusive specials dedicated to informing and educating listeners about the significance of the holiday while also celebrating Black voices across news, music, entertainment, business and beyond. Juneteenth is the longest-running nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, two and half years after the delivery of the Emancipation Proclamation, Black people in Texas learned that they were freed by executive decree. The observance of June 19 as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.
SiriusXM Urban View’s (Ch. 126) Karen Hunter hosts a series of Town Hall interviews centered around Black wealth, starting with entrepreneur Psychelia Terry, founder and CEO of Urban Hydration.

On a special Juneteenth episode of Smart Funny & Black Radio on Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Radio (Ch. 96), Amanda Seales and her co-hosts play her variety game show Smart, Funny & Black with the episode’s comedian guests, Chris Spencer and Amberia Allen, testing their knowledge of Black history, Black culture, and the Black experience.
