Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Ford, has had a rough go of it in the 2013 NASCAR Chase. Logano, who made it into the Chase for the first time in five years as a Sprint Cup driver, currently ranks 12th out of the 13 eligible drivers.

But with four races left and his chances at a championship slim, Logano is still aiming to make a push up the standings. On Tuesday, Logano joined Tradin’ Paint on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio to talk about his experience as a Chase rookie.

“Anytime you get experience is an advantage,” Logano said. “It hasn’t gone the way we’ve wanted it to and I did have a lot of confidence coming into this Chase that we can really make something happen, maybe surprise some people.”

Logano is currently 75 points behind the leader, Jimmie Johnson, but still thinks his team can finish at the top of the pack as he looks ahead to Martinsville this Sunday.

I’m looking forward to getting to Martinsville and getting back on a roll. I know this team can do it … They’re very strong, and we’ve fought from behind all season this year to get ourselves into the Chase. Maybe a championship is a little far out of reach now, but you know, a top-four finish is not, and we can do that still. Obviously, we need to have four wicked-good weekends, but we can still do that.

One person Logano may have trouble catching this weekend is the Chase’s current leader, Johnson. The driver of the No. 48 car has won the last two races at Martinsville, and has been to the half-mile track’s Victory Lane eight times in 23 starts.
