Jason Aldean talks Just Gettin’ Started, sets the record on CMA criticism

Country singer Jason Aldean recently visited SiriusXM The Highway for his album premiere party, where he discussed the making of his song Just Gettin’ Started. “With a title like Just Gettin’ Started, it was a perfect way to kick off the record,” commented Aldean.

Aldean also talked about how industry buddies like country singer Rhett Akins helped in the creation of Just Gettin’ Started. According to Aldean, writing Just Gettin’ Started with Akins was like “this little fraternity coming from Nashville.”

Later, The Highway’s Storme Warren brought up how Aldean was subject to criticism for this year’s Country Music Awards, and how wrong it was that the country singer wasn’t nominated in any of the categories. “We should be up for that as much as anybody! You’re out there having a big year, and the award show comes around, and you’re sort of left out of that…It’s upsetting a little bit.”

However, Aldean set the record straight that not being nominated wasn’t something that he immediately began “blaming anybody” for. “It [wasn’t] something to be pissed at…The CMAs or none of that stuff. I don’t know where that came from, but that was never the issue.”

Despite the musician breaking records and selling out stadiums, Aldean conceded that there’s really no controlling the political side of the CMAs. “You just hope that, you know… you hope you’ll be in there somewhere.”
