One of boxing’s all-time greats, Jake “The Bronx Bull” LaMotta, dropped by Sway in the Morning Wednesday to talk about his memories of fighting Sugar Ray Robinson, to discuss the top boxers of all time, and to show off some of his comedy routine.

LaMotta’s most famous fight came against Robinson on Feb. 5, 1943. LaMotta, who was 30-5-2 heading into the fight, beat Robinson by unanimous decision. It was the first loss of Robinson’s career; Sugar Ray wouldn’t lose again until July 10, 1951. The two fighters squared off a total of five times, with Robinson winning the other four fights.

LaMotta, who was portrayed by Robert DeNiro in the movie Raging Bull, will appear at The Metropolitan Room on Sept. 13 at 7 pm ET with Denise Baker. LaMotta will tell the crowd jokes, shadow box, and dance with Baker.

Listen to Sway in the Morning weekdays at 8 am ET on Shade 45, SiriusXM channel 45.
