What was the strangest question Jack Conklin received when being interviewed by team representatives during last year’s NFL Scouting Combine?

“Most of mine were pretty straight forward, but if I had to say the weirdest one I had, somebody asked me, ‘A shot of whiskey or a Budweiser?'” Conklin told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “I said, ‘I wouldn’t have either in here right now.’ They (accepted that).

‘It worked out, I’d say’

“They actually laughed, so I figured that was a good one. It worked out, I’d say.”

Yes, indeed, as the Tennessee Titans made the former standout offensive tackle from Michigan State the eighth overall pick of the draft. Conklin wound up having an outstanding rookie season.

‘It was sort of the most fun I’ve had throughout football’

He remembers the pre-draft process as being a mostly positive experience.

“At times it’s stressful and it’s crazy, but looking back on it now, it was sort of the most fun I’ve had throughout football,” Conklin said. “Coming off college, where every day is jam-packed full of stuff and then you get to go train. You have no classes. You’re going just to run and lift  and work on your football skills.

‘Pretty fun to learn new things about my craft’

“Looking back on it now, that was pretty fun to be able to just to have all day just to work out and run around with the different guys and learn new things about my craft.”
