Renowned WWE Hall of Famer and legendary professional wrestler The Iron Sheik has passed away at the age of 81, according to a statement shared on his official Twitter account on Wednesday.

The statement hailed The Iron Sheik as a “cultural phenomenon” and a revered “pop culture icon” whose influence stretched far beyond the realm of professional wrestling.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, The Iron Sheik made a lasting impact in the WWE. His remarkable career saw him clinch the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship once each, solidifying his position as a formidable force within the organization. In recognition of his contributions, he was rightfully inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
