Hurricane Fiona has strengthened to a Category 3 storm with 115 mph winds and is now threatening Turks and Caicos, after ravaging Puerto Rico and slamming the Dominican Republic.

Fiona is the first major storm of the 2022 hurricane season. It has battered Puerto Rico in recent days with downpours and flash floods. According to officials, at least 60% of the island still has no water source and almost 1.2 million — representing most of the island — remained without power. At least three deaths were reported, two in Puerto Rico and one in the Dominican Republic.
