Now six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is third all-time in series titles, one behind Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Johnson has won all six of those championships with crew chief Chad Knaus.

Earlier this week on SiriusXM Speedway, Johnson addressed the fact that he and Knaus won’t be winning championships together forever.

He’ll have an end date, I will as well. I have a feeling his might be before mine, I don’t know when that will be. … Crew chiefs, especially Chad at the level he works, it takes a lot out of him to operate at this level. I understand where he’s coming from, but I don’t think there’s any slowing down any time soon. … When that fire goes out, and it will go out for Chad at some point and it will go out for me, that’s when I’ll step down. I don’t have a number on it or a time, but I feel like it’s out around that 10-year mark from now.
