Honor Juneteenth with exclusive specials featuring Kevin Hart, Joe Madison & more

SiriusXM is honoring Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, with exclusive specials dedicated to informing and educating listeners about the significance of the holiday, and hosted by famed comedian Kevin Hart, as well as activists and hosts Joe Madison, Karen Hunter, John Fugelsang, and Clay Cane.

Juneteenth (a combination of the words “June” and “nineteenth”) is the oldest known commemoration celebrating the end of slavery in the United States, according to Juneteenth.com, and is a day to honor Black culture. The holiday is celebrated on June 19 because on June 19, 1865, Union Gen. Gordon Granger informed enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas — more than two and a half years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation — that the Civil War had ended and slavery had been abolished. Learn more about the holiday by tuning in below.
