Synth-pop newcomer Phoebe Ryan started her path in music while writing in high school and being a part of her friend’s Grateful Dead cover band. After getting accepted at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, she studied engineering and production. It was that experience that made her realize that songwriting and performing was her passion. Earlier this year, Phoebe took the music blogosphere by storm thanks to her cover/mash up of R. Kelly and Miguel’s songs Ignition and Do You…,” which has almost a million views on YouTube alone.

However, I’ve known about Phoebe Ryan for quite some time thanks to my buddy Mitchy Collins, one half of previous Hits 1 #ArtistToFollow Oh Honey. In addition to being a close friend of his, she was the co-writer on their song Be Okay. Phoebe has also written for Bea Miller, another artist championed by Hits 1.

After hearing her debut single Mine, I decided to share it a few times on the air. Mind you, she was unsigned at the time.

The song got a positive reaction and caught the attention of the music industry. Shortly after, she was signed by our friends at Columbia Records and released her debut EP, Mine, in June and is currently working on her debut album.
