With 2020 presidential primary season underway, voters deserve an opportunity to receive clear answers and have their voices heard. Ahead of the South Carolina Democratic primary (happening on Saturday, February 29), SiriusXM host and National Radio Hall of Famer Joe Madison got up close and personal with the public for the People’s Town Hall, which aired on Urban View (Ch. 126).

On Thursday, February 27 at 6:30pm, Madison joined the voting public for an illuminating night at the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The church, formally known as Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, has particular importance to the local community as the site of the infamous 2015 Charleston church mass shooting, which resulted in the death of nine African Americans during a Bible study.

During the People’s Town Hall, Madison was joined by civic and activist organizations, local colleges, HBCUs, and government leaders. He also invited the Democratic presidential candidates, with Tom Steyer — a front-runner in the Palmetto State — making an appearance and taking audience questions.
