Golden Ball winner Carli Lloyd talks historic third goal in World Cup finals

Carli Lloyd, Winner of the Golden Ball in the 2015 Women’s World Cup, sat down with SiriusXM FC host and her former Rutgers coach Glenn Crooks to discuss her career and her historic three-goal World Cup final against Japan.

“The first 16 minutes were unreal,” she said of the final game. “You score that early, it’s great and all, but then you’re thinking to yourself, ‘Ok, there’s still a lot of time left to play. And Japan’s a great team, and we knew that even though we had four goals at half, we knew that they were going to come out hard the second half.  It was great. Like I said, there was a different air and a different feeling with this game and going into this game. I just had a feeling that we were winning it, and I think everybody felt that, and it was feeding off of each other and it was just great.”

She went on to talk about the legendary third goal and told the story of how she had actually once dreamt about scoring four goals in a World Cup final. Hear it all below!
