HHN: What inspired your song “Munch (Feelin’ U)”?

IS: I was actually in my room and I was like, “How can I make a song mad fast?” I was challenging myself to make the quickest song I could make, and I was just like, “I’m not going to think too much.” I didn’t overdo the takes and stuff in it. It was just fun, I was feeling the vibes. I think I was a little wine drunk.

HHN: What does “munch” mean?

IS: Munch was inspired by the word “eater.” An eater is somebody who munches. If you know, you know. A munch is an eater — or it can be a hater, too.

HHN: Did you expect the song to get this much love?

IS: I didn’t, to be honest. I would play the song for a couple of people, and it was just like, “Mm, it’s fine.” Like regular reactions, you know? Of course once it blew up now everybody “love it” and thinks it’s the biggest hit.

HHN: What inspired your artist name “Ice Spice”?

IS: My name is Isis, but I came up with the “Spice” part when I was like 14. I was just trying to come up with a finsta name, and I was like, “What rhymes with ice?” It was spice.

HHN: What’s next on your calendar for 2022? Give us the big picture.

IS: Upcoming this month is going to be the big “Munch” remix, and I am dropping a new single, so y’all can look forward to that!
