There’s something magical about live music; anyone in No Shoes Nation who has seen Kenny Chesney perform can attest to the power of his live show.

So when Chesney went back to recordings from his last 10 years of touring, he was immediately struck by the fervor of his fans. These moments — a sonic document of the rising-and-falling action of a one-million-plus-citizen place without borders — have helped define his life on the road, and he wanted to share them with the people who helped make them so special.

“You record songs, you put’em on a record,” Chesney said. “You know, people think it stops there. Even when it’s on the radio, that’s really between the listener and their life. But when you have people in your life like No Shoes Nation, I’ve come to believe, we figure out what these songs really mean when we get out there on the road and sing’em together!”

Live In No Shoes Nation, due out Oct. 27, features dozens of obscure gems, massive hits, covers, tributes and intriguing collaborations recorded at stadium shows, pop-up bar gigs, amphitheaters and the occasional beach takeover. It also includes appearances from friends, co-writers, and tour-mates, such as Dave Matthews, Eric Church, Mac McAnally, David Lee Murphy, Old Dominion, Grace Potter, Taylor Swift and the Zac Brown Band.

“I’ve always said the energy that comes at us, it lifts us up – and really makes us take things even further,” Chesney explained. “Listening, I realized we can’t take that intensity … in the moment. I wondered if everyone who’s come out to one of our shows realizes how incredible they sound; if like us, they’re so in the moment, they had no idea. They’re what makes this music special – and this, to me, was a great way to let them know it.”

In celebration of the album’s release, watch the exclusive video premiere for the live performance of his 2004 hit, There Goes My Life, above.

“It’s one of the few moments on stage, where it’s just me and Wyatt [Beard], my piano player,” Kenny told Storme Warren ahead of the video premiere. “You know our shows are usually really rockin’, got three or four guitars up there. But There Goes My Life, I felt like I really wanted people, when I do it live, I want them to really hear the words because it’s still to this day one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever recorded. And this video was from the opening night in 2015 at the Big Revival Tour… in this same building [The Bridgestone Arena].”
