Derek Jeter announces he’ll retire after season; Torre, O’Neill, Damon, Schein react

Captain Clutch wants one more go at it.

On Wednesday, Derek Jeter announced this upcoming season, his 20th, will be his last.

Some of the most iconic Yankees moments starred the electric Jeter, from his clutch hitting to all-out defensive play.

The Yankees paid tribute to Jeter shortly after the news broke on his Facebook account.

The rest of baseball world quickly reacted to the news, too, including Mad Dog Sports Radio‘s Adam Schein. According to Schein, even with all of his accolades, Jeter is still an underrated legend of the game.

Later, Joe Torre joined Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on Mad Dog Unleashed to react to Jeter’s announcement.

Jeter’s former teammates chimed in on MLB Network Radio as well, including Paul O’Neill and Johnny Damon.
