The Dean Obeidallah Show: The Paris terror attacks, anti-Muslim protest inspires good and more

On my live show Saturday morning we well spend the first hour focusing on the horrific Paris terror attacks.  While we pray for the victims, obviously we all have questions about who committed this barbaric act.  At the time of writing this, the group(s) actually responsible for the attacks have not been determined but speculation is that it’s the work of ISIS or Al Qaeda. For the first half hour of the show I’ll be joined by Al Jazeera America’s Wajahat Ali and CAIR Florida’s Hassan Shibly to discuss the Paris attacks and answer questions people have about Islam and Muslims. As always, my show is judgment free and if there was ever a time to have a candid conversation about people’s concerns about Muslims, it’s now.

In the second half of the show, NBC News’ counterterrorism analyst Laith Alkhouri will give us the latest on the Paris attack.

Anti-Muslim hate inspires good. Last week on the Virginia Tech campus someone wrote on a bathroom wall, “I will be here 11/11/2015 to kill all muslims.” What happened next was amazing. As I noted in my Daily Beast article, the school stood shoulder to shoulder with the Muslim students against hate. The head of Virginia Tech’s Muslim student association Obaid Rehman will be on to talk about inspiring reaction of the school administration and students.

How can the police hire anti-Muslim activists to teach them about Muslims? It’s astounding, but various police forces across the country have hired anti-Muslim bigots to teach them about Muslims. It’s like hiring Paula Deen to teach the police about Black Lives Matters. James Sues, the executive director of the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations, will be on to talk about his efforts to stop police departments in his area from hiring these bigots in the future.

I hope you not only tune in to my live show this Saturday morning, but also call in and join the conversation at 877-974-7487.

My show airs live every Saturday at 10am to noon ET on SiriusXM Insight (Ch 121) and repeats several times over the weekend. It is also available On Demand.
