The Dean Obeidallah Show: Are Muslim neighborhoods in America on verge of being radicalized?

On my LIVE Show this Saturday morning we talk the Brussels terror attack by ISIS, being Muslim in the Bible belt, Christian sharia law and more.

After the Brussels attack, Donald Trump gave us his typical response of ban all Muslims, but Ted Cruz offered up something new. Cruz called for law enforcement to secure “Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized.” So are “Muslim neighborhoods” in America really on the verge of becoming radicalized, as Cruz suggests? Or is it as NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton put it, Ted Cruz “doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about?”

I’ll be joined by Dearborn, Michigan, resident and activist Suehaila Amen to discuss if the nation’s biggest “Muslim neighborhood” are on the verge of being radicalized.

What’s it like being Muslim in the Bible Belt?! Well Dr. Nabil Bayakly of Memphis, Tennessee, will give you an idea. Bayakly, an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis, will share what it’s like to be Muslim in Tennessee, a state that has been a hot bed of anti-Muslim activity. Plus he will answer questions for our “Ask a Muslim” segment.

You are the guest! In this segment, you the SiriusXM listener are my guest. We have two topics for Saturday:

1. Is Christian sharia law coming to North Carolina? On Thursday, the Republican controlled state legislature enacted a law to block local governments from passing anti-discrimination rules to grant protections to gay and transgender people. Laws like these that discriminate against gays are generally based on Biblical principles. Of course if Muslims tried to enact laws in America based on the Koran, the same Republicans who despicably want to discriminate against the LGBT community would explode in anger.  What’s next for America if Christian sharia becomes the law of our land? For example, will women be stoned to death for not being virgins on their wedding night as the Bible expressly calls for?

2. Do they really hate us for our freedoms? Since 9/11, out government leaders have told us that groups like AL Qaeda and ISIS attack the West because they hate us for our freedoms. Is that true? Or is it one of the biggest lies told to Americans? It’s time to have politically honest (and not politically correct) conversation on this issue so that we can better understand ISIS and Al Qaeda.

I hope you not only tune in Saturday, but join the conversation at 877-974-7487 or tweet to me @deanofcomedy. I want to hear what you think about these issues.

My show airs live every Saturday at 10 am to noon ET on SiriusXM Insight (Ch 121) and repeats several times over the weekend. It is also available On Demand. Hope you check it out and better yet give us a call during the show to “Ask a Muslim” a question, discuss issues of the week or even be contestant on our weekly segment “Name That Religion.” And as always, I want to be your Muslim friend – so if you don’t have one follow me on Twitter at @deanofcomedy and I’ll follow you back or ask me questions at
