Journey to Recovery:

Gallup spoke about his recovery process and how he feels going into the upcoming season.

When asked about his progress and how he’s feeling, Gallup replied, “It’s definitely feeling good. You know, just getting back in the groove. Everything’s feeling like I said, Springy, you know, bouncy getting back right, feeling like an old MG.”

Gallup acknowledged the mental hurdles that come with such a significant injury and if he’ll be ready for the 17 game season, stating, “I think it was definitely more mental. I mean, obviously, you know, I was healthy and everything, but just thinking about it a little bit too much, you know, overthinking certain things, didn’t go my way. But definitely this year, this OTA, this offseason has been great for me.”

The wide receiver also emphasized the importance of mental strength when coming back from an injury, highlighting the solitary nature of the recovery process. “You gotta know that you’re coming in every day working by yourself with a trainer and you gotta do it on your own. You don’t really have a team anymore. It’s just you.”

Changes with Roster & Coaching Staff:

Michael Gallup also discussed the changes in the coaching staff, with Kellen Moore moving on to the LA Chargers and the division of play-calling responsibilities between Mike McCarthy and Brian Schottenheimer. He mentioned that both coaches bring different styles and approaches, but ultimately, the goal is to get all the guys involved and make it a successful year.

Regarding the addition of Brandon Cooks to the wide receiver room, Gallup had high praise for the veteran player. “Brandon, he’s one of the best to do it. I’m not gonna lie to you. He came in the room, all he does is work. He helps all the young players, he helps me. He’s just a good dude to have in the locker room.”

Towards the end of the interview, Gallup expressed his admiration Ezekiel Elliott, highlighting his leadership and mentorship within the team. “Zeke is an important player. He was definitely one of the dudes who took me up under his wing, my rookie year and my second year. He’s always been a big brother to everybody in this locker room.”
