Barry ChurchBarry Church is fully embracing the opportunity to become a free agent.

The Dallas Cowboys’ safety would be fine staying put, but as the NFL’s free agency period nears, he is ready to move forward to “a new chapter” in his life.

‘It’s definitely a business decision’

Church hasn’t had any conversations with representatives of the Cowboys.

“It’s definitely a business decision, but … the Cowboys … were the team that gave me that gave me the opportunity coming out of the draft, being undrafted,” he told Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn on the SiriusXM Blitz. “Everybody else kind of passed up on me. But it’s definitely a business decision. I’ve got my little one here right now, I’ve got my son, and my family, so I’ve definitely got to provide for them. So it’s definitely going to come down to a business decision.”

‘I see this as a new challenge in my life’

And when it comes to business, Church is more than happy to leave that in the hands of his agent,

“I just told my agent, ‘Hey, man, give me a checkup every now and then, but don’t call my phone. Keep me in the loop a little bit here and there, but don’t bother me. I’m trying to relax right now,'” Church said. “But I’m sure, after the (NFL Scouting) Combine, he’ll get back to me.

“I like challenges and I just see this as a new challenge in my life for me and my family and whatever comes our way, we’ll accept it and move forward.”
