In an interview with Joe Madison on The Black Eagle podcast, Senator Chuck Schumer confirmed that he is focusing on the upcoming midterm elections before worrying about Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign.
“I’m not focusing on [whether Biden should or should not run],” Schumer said. “If we get a couple more seats in the Senate — right now, if the election were held today, we would pick up a few seats. We’re doing great. And you have many listeners in … Pennsylvania, in Wisconsin, in North Carolina, in Ohio. Those states we can win Republican seats.”
Schumer is confident that after picking up two or three more seats, the Democrats could pass things like childcare, paid family leave, elderly home care, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
“We would get the kind of things that Joe Manchin was against, so we couldn’t do them in this bill,” he explained, referring to the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act the Senate passed Sunday after 16 hours of debate with Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote. It moves to a vote in the House on Friday. “We got a lot, but — so please focus on the 2022 elections. And let’s deal with the presidency after that.”
