Astronaut Chris Hadfield’s outer ‘Space Oddity’ cover got taken down, but you can still watch him perform it right here!

Yesterday, the Internet’s favorite astronaut and Redditor Chris Hadfield’s stupendous cover of David Bowie’s Space Oddity was taken down from YouTube for copyright reasons. (DAMN THE MAN. *SHAKES FIST* BOO HISS.)

We had permission from David Bowie’s people to post the video on YouTube for a year, and that year is up. We are working on renewing the license for it, but as there are no guarantees when it comes to videos shot in space, we thought you might want to have one last look before we take it down.

If you don’t recall what we’re talking about, Gawker has some insight. But in a nutshell (escape pod?), Hadfield is the first man to cover Space Oddity while actually in space. Thanks to the magic of Reddit, Hadfield’s video went viral, collected more than 20 million views, and even earned him an invite to SiriusXM.

Sad times. But not TOO sad. You can still watch Hadfield perform Space Oddity below from Mother Earth on SXM! WooHOO!

Watch it below, and may God’s love be with you.
